This is the first one of these Author Insights I have read. I appreciated Roman's honesty, especially in answering the best friend question. I have similar sentiments. I agree, living is the best preparation for a writer, especially if they have endured some hard times. It gives them perspective, and it develops empathy.

Well okay, thanks for reading the first one and appreciate your honesty as well. There are 11 more Author Insights if you should want to read about some other very talented writers. I try hard not to ask cookie cutter questions, and the writers do the rest. They do all the heavy lifting. Roman carried the torch very well. - Jim

Thanks Jim. Roman seems an open, interesting person and writer, and you interviewed him well.

Off topic and apologies in advance, but a modest proposal to your reader/authors. How about turning the light and someone in this skilled group interview the host of Author Insights? I would like to know more about the author behind this forum, Writing Wrongs, etc. History? Writing process & character development? Origin / development of concept? Why you write? What you've learned from publishing? Did wrestling teach you anything useful for writing...:)?

Step up author. Perhaps better yet, two or three of you could collaborate to interview Mr. Wilsky? Would be a good read.

Hey Rick. You already know the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, haha. I'm far too boring and predictable but if the opportunity ever presented itself, I wouldn't shy away from it. Thanks for reading and commenting, old friend. - Jim

I agree with Richard. It's time to hear from Wilsky. Will you consent to a "sit down" for us? I volunteer.

Jimbo, I'm a bit of an enigma but honestly and for the most part, I'm about as deep as a mud puddle in the Sahara. I fear the interview would be sleep inducing. Instead of it being like watching paint dry, it'll be like Reading paint dry....but you know what? Sure what the hell. - Jim.

But that's just how I roll Jim. Keep expectations low and then average results look better, haha. Seriously though, that's one of the little riddles I have. Confident? Oh hell yeah, sometimes overly so, but I try to never show it or talk about it. However, I'm an actor too, sometimes I feel like I'm playing the part of me, a fictional character that I've created. If that makes any damn sense at all. I'm ready when you are - and thanks! - Jim

Been good, Jim! Busy trying to get a few stories over the line before November. I'm hoping to invest the month working on a novel. How about you?

Not too bad for an old fart. Picked back up on a story now that I posted Roman’s interview. I’ve never been a good juggler, one project at a time type of guy. When I do try to juggle, I drop all the bowling pins, not just one, haha. Good luck to you on that novel, although you don’t need luck. - Jim

Jim! Maybe I'm biased (yes) because I love Roman's humanity and how it shows up in his work. But this was fantastic! I loved it! It was a well thought out interview and just read like I was listening to you both talk. Loved it. Thank you!

Rebecca, thanks so much for reading and the generous words. When you have such an interesting and engrossing guest like Roman, it just naturally makes for some compelling reading. Honestly, it has little to do with me. I'm so glad you liked it and it feels good knowing that this series, Author Insights, might have some level of value to readers. Thanks again, Jim

Great interview, Jim. Roman is an interesting guy. I'm going to do a deeper dive.

Please do Jim. It's a dive well worth taking. My first connection with him was a story he wrote titled The Old Man - start there if I could suggest that. As always, thanks for reading and commenting, partner. - Jim

Thanks for reading and the kind words Sudana. In terms of intellectual prowess, and to use technology as a comparison table....I felt like a rope and pulley system, and he was like the mother board, control panel on the space shuttle. I was totally out of my league, but hey, haha.
