A ball of fire is a fitting end for a monster like Tate. Wow Jim, this was a real barn burner (well, technically a boat burner) and one hell of an adventure. A multi-layered story with great characters. Well done, can't wait for whatever you dream-up next!

Hopefully, you know how much I appreciate you Jimbo. So glad you liked this story, it was a blast to write and I hope the epilogue is worthy. I'm going to do my best to wrap up some loose ends and give some character follow ups. Thanks so much for staying with this because it went on longer than I expected but as they say, 'it ain't over till its over'. - Jim

You. Did. Not. Kill. Wells! Did you? Oh, that bastard Tate! What a whirlwind of action. Can’t wait for the epilogue!

Liz, I found something out the other day. The old trusted and sage advice to “kill your darlings” has been widely attributed to many writers over the decades. Big names like Faulkner, King, Wilde, Chesterton and more. Then I find about a British writer, Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch who actually wrote the phrase, well, 'murder your darlings' in his 1916 book On the Art of Writing. Those other guys agreed but were borrowing the phrase. Anyway, its all Sir Arthur's fault...Thanks so much for sticking with this long one. As much as I Ioved this story, like you said recently, I was ready to move on. Appreciated you! - Jim

Sir Arthur, you rascal! It is always relieving to reach the end when writing a series, even if we’ve enjoyed it. This was a terrific story, and I am eager to see how it all comes out.

Ah, the sweet smell of gasoline fumes. Unfortunately, Tate and Carla probably didn't know what hit them. Great ending to a terrific story, Jim. Looking forward to the epilogue.

Yeah K.C., the end seemed fitting. I will give the epilogue the effort I think this story deserves. There were some supporting characters I grew to like - a lot. Thanks so much for continuing to read a story that didn't want to end. - Jim

I'm going to put a little extra effort into this particular epilogue. I want to make sure and recap as well as possible - without it ruining the story. Lots of characters, lots of situations and follow up from earlier chapters I'd like to do. Most times I don't necessarily prefer a epilogue but I think this story could use a short one. Would love to hear your thoughts in general regarding epilogues. -Jim

I think, though an epilogue is certainly not always necessary, it is a nice little bonus ). I like them, overall. When the story has been enjoyable, they offer a gentler farewell to everyone a reader has come to care about. You can hop a bit into the future to see how they get on.

Oh, no! I hate to see the word "body" in that last sentence!

Believe me Sharron, I didn't decide on the end until yesterday. I really appreciate you staying with this story to the end. Its been a long one and I thank you. - Jim
